Letter to the American Church

Here is a letter written and signed by many of our brothers and sisters in the Global South. We must not ignore it. Please pass this on to people you know as well.

p.s. Erika Izquierdo works for the Paz y Esperanza office in Lima and I stayed at her house when I first arrived, which is pretty neat.

The letter states: "These situations of poverty and pain are not simply the product of the internal functions of our countries; rather they are the results of the international policies of the governments that wield global power."

Poverty and pain are surely the result of sin in this world, and there is a great deal of sin among rich and poor, north and south. I pray that God will continue to help cleanse me of the many sins that I am guilty of. I pray that each of us as Christians will do so. The U.S. may have some "global power", but it pales in comparisson with God's eternal power. I pray that each of us would ask God to conform our minds to the mind of Christ.

As we look around, we will see many who seem to ignore God or who ignore that which is inconvenient. But aside from prayer, our individual choices are the only influence we have. There is no "them" that can be convinced. There is only each of us.
